Three people were injured when a former champion sailor lost control
of his pickup truck and crashed into a roadside food stand in Sattahip.
Customer Krissana Suankaw, 39, and motorcycle-taxi driver Ubonrat Rattana,
22, sustained serious injuries in the Aug. 14 accident at the stand at
Sukhumvit Road’s 175-km marker. They were taken to Queen Sirikit Naval
Medical Center.
Keerati Bualong, 22, driver of the Mitsubishi Triton pickup sustained minor
injuries and was treated at the scene. A former winner at the World Laser
Radial Youth Championships in 2009, Keerati is now preparing for the 17th
Asian Games in South Korea.
The driver said he was driving back to the athletes’ dormitory when he lost
control of the vehicle at the Sukhumvit intersection. The vehicle crushed
three motorbikes and send two others sprawling. Keerati volunteered to pay
for all the damage and injuries.
