Navy, royal charity deliver 1,310 bags of relief supplies to flood-stricken Pichit area

Many hands make light work - sailors from the Royal Thai Navy base in Sattahip load up supplies headed for flood stricken communities in Pichit.

The Royal Thai Navy cooperated with the Princess Pa Foundation to deliver first aid supplies and food to more than 1,300 victims of flooding in the Pichit area.

Foundation President Somdhavin Yungyoo, representing HRH Princess Soamsawalee, who founded the organization, the Thai Red Cross, 50 Air and Coastal Defense Command personnel loaded 1,310 bags of provisions onto two trucks bound for the flood-stricken region Aug. 19. The charity donated 1,250 bags for residents and 60 for monks.

For the journey, the highway police led with vehicles in front and at the rear of the convoy to deliver the royal disaster relief packages to people on time.

The royal aid consisted of rice and dry food, including instant noodles, canned fish, canned pickled lettuce, chili paste, cloth, a blanket, shirts, pants, towels, medicine, mosquito-repellent, a torch, candles, a lighter, sanitary napkins, powdered detergent, soap, toothbrushes and toothpaste.
