Three people were injured when they were shot and
crashed their motorbike after Loy Krathong festivities in Jomtien Beach.
Pipat Wintachai, 19, suffered a single gunshot wound
and Prasit Janthong, 21, and Juthamas Nguampa, 16, sustained cuts when
the motorbike the three were sharing crashed early Nov. 11 at the New
Rom Pot Market in the Boonkanchanaram Temple neighborhood.
Prasit said they were driving home around 1 a.m. when
they got into a dispute with several youths in a pickup truck. He said
they didn’t know the men and sped away to avoid confrontation.
The truck followed, Prasit added, and at least one of
the occupants opened fire on their motorbike, firing up to eight shots.
Only Pipat was hit and the injury was not life-threatening.
Prasit insisted they did not know their assailants,
but police speculated there was more to the story. However, police were
unable to find the truck or shooters.
