A full slate of Chonburi Power Party candidates hit
Walking Street as Thailand’s general election campaign entered its final
days.
Party list candidates Sansak Ngampichet, Niran
Wattanasartsathorn and Saksit Phothisit, along with Zone 7 MP candidate
Poramet Ngampichet toured the South Pattaya bar district June 21, along
with Mayor Itthiphol Kunplome and Sunthorn Gangsirikul, president of the
Walking Street Club.
Poramet, who is Sansak’s son, said Palang Chon’s
30-year connection to Pattaya politics has given the party a unique
understanding of the area’s needs. Founded by Itthiphol’s brother and
stocked with Kunplome family members and friends, the party has made
exports and tourism the main planks of its platform.
Candidates told the beer and go-go bar workers - the
vast majority of which are from the northeast and are not eligible to
vote for the Chonburi Power local MPs - that they wanted to use Palang
Chon to push Pattaya’s concerns to the national level.
