Italians and a Russian
Aloha;
3 Italians and a Russian, almost sounds like a beginning
of a joke. These gentlemen take a holiday on Jomtien Beach every year and
are good friends of the Pollution Solution Group. They thank us all of the
time for watering and feeding the dogs, and setting examples for the Thais
and farangs by removing man made dangers left behind by people that don’t
know better or don’t care. These gentlemen also keep their beach area
spotless.
This is also a good example that shows that it doesn’t
matter where we come from, nor does it matter where are, what matters is
where we are coming from on the inside.
โ€?How wonderful is it that nobody needs to wait a single
moment before starting to improve the world. - Anne Frank
Nothing is worth more then this day.
Best wishes to all for the New Year.

Stop use of green laser as a toy
Dear Editor,
I am very concerned about small kids playing around with
green laser pointers. Just recently at the New Year party on the 27th floor
of Markland Hotel a young Russian boy was fooling around with this so called
“toy”. His sport was to point the laser beam to the head of the guests. I
also got a fair share of this dangerous weapon, but then I reacted
instantly. I tried to tell the parents in English how dangerous the laser
pointer is. But these people did not listen or pretended not to understand
English. Two minutes later the father gave the “toy” back to his son.
Even at a distance of 5 Km the beam can cause serious
damages to the eyes or even blindness. It is very irresponsible of parents
who buy this type of items for their children. The risk that they will harm
them self and family members is significantly high.
In Syria the military is using green laser to make
demonstrators blind.
In most countries a licence is required for importing a
green laser. Customs in the EU and USA are particularly interested of
checking passengers arriving from Asia.
Abuse of green lasers that are e.g. used to distract
drivers of vehicles or aircraft pilots will bring a prison sentence of 5
years, in most EU countries, if they are caught.
To read more about the laser safety this link is very
useful: http://en.wikipedia. org/wiki/Laser_safety

Pattaya beach resort?
Editor;
Christmas Day 2011 and after a late night on Christmas
Eve I decided to take a quiet stroll along the beach. What a disappointment
that was.
Firstly, to call that thin sliver of sand a beach is
laughable. To then try and walk along it proved impossible as the vendors
had their plastic shades and tables right down to the waterโ€?s edge. The
beach did look busy at first glance but after stopping 3 times and doing a
quick count I estimated that only about 25% of the chairs were actually
being used.
Plan B - Walk along that reasonably nice promenade that
has been built during the last decade. Once again this proved virtually
impossible due to the market that had been set up. In many places the
passage way left for people to walk on was less than 1 meter wide. Does
Pattaya really need another market selling exactly the items that are
available at numerous other outlets around the city? I wonder how the local
traders feel about it. Yes, those people who try to make a living year
round, not briefly stop over to make a killing on busy holidays and
festivals. I wonder if anyone has even bothered to ask them.
Perhaps before making expensive plans to reinstate the
beach the local powers that be should consider what the general public
actually wants for a beach setting. I think theyโ€?d find it a place for
relaxation and recreation, not shopping.
