Ahoy me hearties!
This, December 29, be the last trip of this year and
although the winds played havoc with the lines we managed to have a great
day out on the ocean.
When I say the winds play havoc, it is because the wind
blows the boat so fast across the water that the lines snag up on the bottom
of the ocean and snap many times. Much tackle is lost. If we drop anchor
then the tides are too fast to keep the small lines in a vertical position.
OK, that’s informed you of some of the more intricate problems with fishing.
The good thing is that the weather was absolutely perfect
and because the wind was from the land the seas were not rough at all.
Catch of the day.
As you can see from the photo’s we managed to find a nice
queen fish of about 7 or 8 kilos, plus a nice jack towards the end of the
day. As usual the rest of the day we caught many snapper and grouper which
always fill the freezer with tasty fish.
We now move into 2012 with renewed hope of good catches
and pleasant days with good company on the seas.
Next trip is scheduled for the 21st January and there are
a couple of spaces available at this time of writing.
To all of our fishing partners and especially our sponsor
Keith Keohane of KPK Food Services Ltd. over the last year, I would like to
wish them a very happy and healthy new year.

PSC Fishing Report – December 2011
Daeng with her
prize catch.
Captain Dene
Our trip on December 22, the fourth one of the month,
comprised Jeff & Khammoon, John & Marnie, Alan, Charlie and his Canadian
friend.
The weather was good but the fish not so plentiful.
Nevertheless all were satisfied with their catches. Marnie was the champ for
the day with a nice 3 kilo coral trout and a slightly smaller one.
Unfortunately, no picture was taken that day so I have included one taken on
the private trip on 20 December arranged by Tor for his friends; Khun Daeng
caught this magnificent fish.
I have booked trips for the following dates in 2012:
There are still vacancies available for our trips on
Saturday 14 January, Thursday 19 January and Thursday 26 January. I can be
contacted on 081 862 6279. For PSC members wanting to attend, guests of
members are welcome but are expected to become PSC members if they wish to
participate in later trips. Four trips will be held each month throughout
the year, two on Saturdays and two on Thursdays.
A number of participants have commented on the difficulty
(and at times unsafe) boarding and exiting the boat. The captain has assured
me he will have an improved ladder available for the next trip and
subsequent trips. Here is hoping!
Good fishing and best wishes for 2012!

French take the honours at Royal Lakeside
PSC golf from the Café Kronborg
Michael Catillon, Dave ‘The Admiral’ Richardson
& Alain Taddei.
Peter Blackburn
Monday, December 26, Royal
Lakeside – Stableford
Having not played the course for over one year we were
very much looking forward to seeing Royal Lakeside again after hearing good
reports. A very good field of 33 golfers were signed up which included
several returnees and newcomers. Hearty welcomes were awarded to Frankie
Sharatt from Derby, U.K., Ronnie Ratte back from Korea for some more R & R,
Peter Horup from Norway, Darren Newman, Graham Mitchell & Ed Jonger from
U.K. along with Rod Cockle from Mackay in Queensland, Australia.
Departing the Kronny 5 minutes earlier than our scheduled
0815 hrs time it took just 60 minutes to get to the course and we were able
to tee off 25 minutes ahead of our allotted time of 1000 hrs. It was very
cool and unusually very windy which made golf a real challenge on the day
and this was reflected in the scoring with just one player playing to
handicap.
Mashi Kaneta, The Admiral &
Elias Magnusson.
The course was looking good although some fairways were
fairly dry but the greens were in very good shape and quite quick at times.
With no major holdups we were able to complete our round in four hours &
twenty minutes. It should be mentioned that much work has been put into the
clubhouse which is now the equal of most around.
There were 2 flights with A Flight for handicaps 0 to 17
and B Flight for 18 and over. There were rewards for nearest the pin on all
four par threes and longest first putts on the ninth & eighteenth greens.
The A Flight was won by Frenchman Alain Taddei with 35
points and Scotsman Rob Brown finished second 1 point back. Our Swiss friend
Walter Baechli finished third on 33 points with American Ken Bernek fourth
on 31 points. Dane Niels Hansen finished fifth with 30 points.
Another of our French friends Michael Catillon took out
the B Flight with 36 points, 2 points clear of the consistent Jan Lovgreen
in second place. Englishman Graham Buckingham was third with 32 points and a
count back was needed to decide fourth & fifth with Aussie Jerry Dobbs (14
point back nine) just edging out Ronnie Ratte (13 point back nine), both
having 30 points.
A Flight (0-17)
1st Alain Taddei(17) 35pts
2nd Rob Brown (7) 34pts
3rd Walter Baechli (17) 33pts
4th Ken Bernek (17) 31pts
5th Niels Hansen (15) 30pts
B Flight (18+)
1st Michael Catillon (18) 36pts
2nd Jan Lovgreen (23) 34pts
3rd Graham Buckingham (24) 32pts
4th Jerry Dobbs (23) 30pts
5th Ronnie Ratte (27) 30pts
Near Pins: 3rd Ken Bernek; 6th
Dave Richardson; 12th Walter Baechli; 15th
Don Richardson
Long Putts: 9th Rob Brown;
18th Darren Newman
The Compass Cap (worst score on the day) was won by Peter
Horup in a four-way count back and Deefa the Dog had a walk around with his
master, Hunter, and collected many donations to charity from our generous
Caf้ Kronborg group.
Thursday,
December 29,
Treasure Hill – Stableford
This was the last Caf้ Kronborg competition game of the
year and a very good field of 32 players was ready to participate and tackle
the improved Treasure Hill layout.
We left the Kronny right on time at 0815hrs after
welcoming Peter Sorensen from Denmark, Jean Morel from France & Simon
Kendall from the U.K. Arriving at Treasure Hill 50 minutes later it appeared
that there would be a fair bit of traffic on the course as there were quite
a few vehicles in the car park but nonetheless we were able to get our first
group away at 0935hrs, 25 minutes ahead of schedule.
The weather was excellent although fairly windy and the
course was looking good despite quite a few fairways being dry & hard. Once
again we had to contend with very quick greens and being below the hole was
the order of the day to avoid the dreaded three and four putts. Most people
struggled on the day as is reflected in the scoring with just one golfer
playing to his handicap.
It was a fairly slow round with several “seriously
social” golfers ahead and our round was completed in four hours & thirty
five minutes. We had 2 flights with A Flight for handicaps 0 to 19 and B
Flight for 20 and over. There were rewards for nearest the pin on all four
par threes and longest first putts on the ninth & eighteenth.
The A Flight was won by the consistent Mashi Kaneta with
35 points. In a 3-way count back with 32 points each for the next three
spots Niels Hansen (21 point back nine) finished second from Rob Brown (17
point back nine – 11 points last 6 holes) who finished third & Don
Richardson (17 point back nine – 9 points last 6 holes) took fourth spot. In
another count back Walter Baechli (18 point back nine) finished fifth from
Mike Gosden (15 point back nine), both having 31 points.
Veteran Elias Magnusson took the honours in B Flight with
a fine 36 points, 2 points ahead of Carole Kubicki in second spot. Another
count back, this time with 4 golfers on 32 points, saw Kenny Chung (19 point
back nine) finish third from Dave Richardson (15 point back nine – 11 points
last 6 holes) in fourth place. Graham Buckingham (15 point back nine – 8
points last 6) took the last spot on the podium with Jan Lovgreen (14 point
back nine) just missing out.
A Flight (0-19)
1st Mashi Kaneta (11) 35pts
2nd Niels Hansen (15) 32pts
3rd Rob Brown (7) 32pts
4th Don Richardson (12) 32pts
5th Walter Baechli (17) 31pts
B Flight (20+)
1st Elias Magnusson (20) 36pts
2nd Carole Kubicki (23) 34pts
3rd Kenny Chung (31) 32pts
4th Dave Richardson (25) 32pts
5th Graham Buckingham (24) 32pts
Near Pins: 2nd Peter
Blackburn; 6th Frankie Sharratt; 13th
Niels Hansen; 17th Mashi Kaneta
Long Putts: 9th Kenny Chung;
18th Bent Agerbo
The Compass Cap (now with a new name but not for
publication) was just won by my old mate from Derbyshire Frankie Sharratt,
and Mike Gosden paraded Deefa the Dog who collected lots of donations to
charity from the Kronny Crew.
Myself, Dave & Mike wished everyone a Happy New Year with strong belief
that 2012 would be bigger & better than ever.

Dennis & Dave get the tactics all right
PSC golf from The Outback golf Bar
Tuesday winners Dave
Earthrowl (left) and Dennis ‘the Turnip’ (right) with Capt’ Bob.
Monday, December 26, Khao
Kheow B & C - Stableford
This was Boxing Day and what better way to spend the day
than a round of golf, just to make all you Brits back at home, a little
jealous. Surprisingly, in what was otherwise a splendid day, it was cold for
Thailand early on (less than 20 deg) and very windy making club choice
extremely difficult.
There were 20 Outbackers playing the B & C nines on what
was an almost deserted course and playing amongst the regulars was pro James
Sheffield, who is here once again to have a shot at winning a slot on the
Asian tour, down in Hua Hin next month. So good luck to you James from all
of us here at the Outback!
Dennis Pelly took the first division with another very
steady performance (36pts) from Bobby Driggs (35) and James (off +2) beating
Paul Greenaway on count back, both on 33.
The second stream boys fared less well as Bob Lindborg
managed to win it with 33 points after having had about 4 points after four
holes. He won it from Andy Makara on count back and Paul Sharples (30pts)
beat the General, also on count back, even though neither of them could
putt!
There were three ‘2’s from Paul Greenaway & Ron Dickie
(hole B3) and Mike Bender on hole C8.
Third place on Tuesday went to
Doug (left) and Alan.
Div A (+2–14)
1st Dennis Pelly (11/Hi10.8) 36pts
2nd Bobby Driggs (14/Hi13.5) 35pts
3rd James Sheffield (+2) 33pts
Div B (15+)
1st Bob Lindborg (20/Hi19.2) 33pts
2nd Andy Makara (28/Hi26.1) 33pts
3rd Paul Sharples (15/Hi13.8) 30pts
Tuesday,
December 27, Pattaya C.C. - Stableford
So Christmas is over and it was time for an Outback ‘Fun
Day’, which for many began with an Outback breakfast and the usual warm
greeting from Capt Bob. After that it was to understand the rules and find a
calculator!
Fourth place - Bob and the
lovely Rak.
Pairs stableford, rainbow, (6 tees each red, white and
blue - ladies 12 white 6 red) - multiplier – (remembering the 3 x 0 = 0!)
Joker on each nine – worth double points plus one nominated net par!
Extra rule! The word ‘sorry’ is not permitted, please use
‘whoops’ or some such similar word a little stronger perhaps.
So off we go to be welcomed by all at Pattaya Country
Club with the usual efficient booking in. There were 34 players today (no
shows in this format never helps) – should have been 36 - including three
caddies from Burapha playing with their usual regular Outback bosses – with
some success!
General Jack, who went out in the first group playing
with Bob Pearce was surprised when their playing opponents and course
specialists, Dennis Persson and Dave Earthrowl, both declared their jokers
on the usually tough first hole, made considerably easier from the red! Well
what a smart move, as Dave with two shots, parred it for 4 points and the
Turnip bogeyed it for 2 points, when doubled up all round, they had 32
points in the bag, what a start.
The cards were collected from the usual ‘goldfish bowl’
in the clubhouse and with the help of Chad, the regular Tuesday host, Jack
and he collated the results and we must congratulate everybody on the
surprised clarity of the score marking, making the job considerably easier
than expected.
It was then back to the Outback to continue with the
‘fun’ where the staff provided an excellent buffet catering for both Thais
and Europeans, but not before a few bevvies were downed thus loosening the
tongues of some of the girls for a little Thai karaoke.
We all know that caddies play an integral in the golfing
community – that fact is not forgotten by The Outback and today there were
fifteen regular caddies from PCC as well caddy-master Hewie, who were joined
later by another eight or so from Old Siam and of course, the three from
Burapha who took part in the competition.
Prior to the presentation, regular Outback MC, Nigel
Cannon on behalf of all, thanked Capt’ Bob and General Jack for organising
another great fun day, although Jack was heard to say, that the format would
be different next year and much less taxing on the brain and he (Nigel) went
on to welcome all, including all the caddies plus a number of friends who
had dropped by.
After that Capt’ Bob announced the winning teams in
reverse order: fourth were Bob Lindborg and his Burapha caddy, Rak, with 91
points – interesting to note that Rak has only been playing golf for three
months!
Third were Alan Pearce and Doug Chalkley with 95 points
and good to see Alan back at the Outback after some months absence and out
there playing golf again, even though his handicap may have gone up a few
points.
Second place went to the Irish/Scottish combination of
Neil Lavery and Scotty Qua with 101 points who also celebrated a resounding
victory over Chad & Capt’ Bob, which was quickly predictable as Capt’ Bob
four-putted the first hole. In a valiant attempt to gain some respectability
about the thrashing they received, Chad played his joker on the index one,
14th, only to watch Bob knock his first drive O/B and
the provisional in the hazard.
That left the crafty team of David Earthrowl and Dennis
(the Turnip) Persson with a staggering 108 points - proving that their
carefully planned strategy had paid off handsomely as they provided a copy
of their game-plan to the General.
The four near pins went to: Nut – another Burapha Caddy,
Keith Allen, Dennis Persson and JingJo O’Neill, all winning 500 baht Outback
vouchers and the prize for the best score on a single hole had to be split
between the two teams of Bob Linborg/Rak and Neil Lavery/Scotty Qua who both
had a ‘36pts’
Wednesday,
December 28, Burapha - Stableford
Good steady scoring amongst many of the 29 Outbackers
playing the A & B nines here at Burapha today. John Locke fired the best
score of the day with 39 points to win Div B by five shots from Bob Lindborg
and Ivan Plunkett both on 34.
Welcome back to the Outback, Messrs Pilkington, Grimoldy,
Priddy & Land and well played Alan, who topped Div A with 37 points, beating
Bob St. Aubin on count back from a whole host of players all with 36 points,
which included Neil Lavery, Brian O’Connor, Raji and Robert Hodsen. Just to
underline how solid the scoring was out there, there was another four
players on 35 points.
We will be switching Burapha back to Mondays from 9th
Jan in conjunction with Khao Kheow that will also remain on Mondays. The
formats will vary however, with a 4BBB game being played provided the
numbers are even. Wednesdays will revert to a selection of courses starting
at Emerald (11th Jan) and we are to reintroduce
Thursdays, starting at Eastern Star on 5th January.
There was only one ‘2’ today from Fred Land on the third
hole (A3).
Div A (0-16)
1st Alan Pilkington (10/Hi8) 37pts
2nd Bob St. Aubin (16/Hi12.9) 37pts
3rd Neil Lavery (16/Hi12.7) 36pts
Div B (17+)
1st John Locke (17/Hi14) 39pts
2nd Bob Lindborg (23/Hi19.2) 34pts
3rd Ivan Plunkett (25/Hi20.6) 34pts
Friday, December 30, Green
Valley - Stableford
There’s little point in having marshals on a course if
they are only interested in looking for lost golf balls rather than assist
with the speed of play on a golf course. At Green Valley today it was
reported that there was a three-ball playing from the tips, that shouldn’t
even have been playing from the reds; this is grossly unfair Mr Green Valley
to your playing customers, that you can allow one group to be so totally
selfish and ruin the day for others! We had 38 players out there, whose
support you may want when the low season comes, well, you’re hardly going
about it the right way and you can expect some strong comments from us as
well as the chairman of golf at the PSC!
Paul Greenaway, who is normally the first to complain
about slow play, managed to keep his head together, probably as a result of
catching up with the news from his good friend Paul Bourke, who has just
returned from Aus. (welcome back mate), to post the best score of the day of
38 points to win Div A. Second was Mr Consistent himself, Dennis Pelly on
36.
The Project Manager has had some good results just
recently, and today was no exception, as he scored a very creditable 37
points to win Div B from the PSC golf boss, Joe Mooneyham on 36 points,
whose back nine not surprisingly, let him down after 22 on the front, but
then Joe is another person who is strongly opposed to slow play.
Jason Gale has been playing out of the Outback for a
while here now whilst on holiday but today he recorded his first win,
scoring 36 points in Div C ahead of Jinjo O’Neill in second on 35.
Finally and some consolation for you Joe, you scored the
only ‘2’ of the day!
Div A (0-10)
1st Paul Greenaway (8/Hi8.7) 38pts
2nd Dennis Pelly (10/Hi10.6) 36pts
3rd Owen Walkley (9/Hi9.5) 33pts
Div B (11-18)
1st Neil Lavery (12/Hi12.7) 37pts
2nd Joe Mooneyham (15) 36pts
3rd Mark Riggall (13/Hi13.7) 33pts
Div C (19+)
1st Jason Gale (22/Hi21.2) 36pts
2nd Martin O’Neill (27/Hi25.7)
35pts
3rd Ed Horrocks (24/Hi23) 35pts

Winning ways for Warren Holland
PSC golf from The Golf Club
John Emmerson & Sonny
Crawford.
Monday, December 26, Green
Valley (White tees) – Stableford
1st Sonny Crawford (8) 43pts
2nd Tom Balch (27) 41pts
3rd Brian Wilkinson (15) 38pts
It’s funny how we evaluate a golf course: generally
speaking, the better one plays on a course the higher rating one would
normally give it. Green Valley is widely regarded as one of the best and
most consistent in the area, and a certain Mr. Sonny Crawford would agree as
he usually shoots very well here. Last week he was 2nd
and this week he wins it outright so well played Sonny.
It should also be noted that Sonny is a regular visitor
to our mates at the Fairways Golf Driving Range and gets lessons from
Richard, so as Gary Player once said, “Perfect practice makes perfect”. Your
scores will drop if you practice correctly, simple as that!
Teacher Tom, who won last week, had to settle for 2nd
this trip out, and everybody’s favourite Englishman Brian Wilkinson was 3rd
with 38 points on the day. Thanks to all for supporting our regular Monday
venue and making it such a popular day of the week for golf.
Bob Newell with Martin
Zimmerman, Brian Prudden, Warren Holland and Gareth Gill.
Wednesday, December 28,
Treasure Hill (White tees) - Stableford
A Flight
1st Dave Shelton (6) 30pts
2nd John Mulrooney (14) 26pts
3rd Scott Jaconetty (11) 26pts
B Flight
1st Warren Holland (25) 32pts
2nd Joe Kowalczyk (18) 31pts
3rd Brian Prudden (21) 31pts
It was just brutal out there today. Treasure Hill is a
difficult course to play under any conditions, but throw in a 30 mph wind
and fast and dry greens and that will explain why we had such a low
Stableford point count on the day. The greens were superfast and on some
holes the ball just would not hold at all. One of the lads putted uphill
about a foot past the hole and it came back and rolled in! Anyway, we all
survived and had absolutely beautiful weather so we still had a great day on
the course.
A very Happy Birthday to Khun
Bow of Crystal Bay!
It is not often we have a B flight winner with a better
score than the A Flight winner but such was the case today. Dave Shelton
came up with 30 points to win the A Flight and fellow American Warren
Holland made the B Flight proud with 32 points on this difficult track.
Warren just beat out Joe (Scrabble Points) Kowalczyk and
Brian Prudden with a very admirable 31 points for their efforts. It must be
mentioned that Brian had a great start with 18 points on his front nine!
In the locker room, it was also good to see that they
have replaced the funky metal army lockers with much nicer and larger wooden
ones to improve the changing room environment and continue with the steady
stream of course improvements that the Saha Group is investing in Treasure
Hill. Thank you!
Friday, December 23,
Crystal Bay (White tees) – Monthly Medal
A Flight
1st Gareth Gill
B Flight
1st Martiin Zimmerman
C Flight
1st Warren Holland
It was the Warren Holland show this week at The Golf Club
as he strolled to victory twice and most importantly at Crystal Bay to
capture the final Monthly Medal of 2011. Warren garners his first Monthly
Medal Antigua golf shirt and is a proud member of the one-star club with
hopes of many more to follow… watch out Bob and Ian, our only three-star
winners so far!
Gareth Gill carved out a victory from a large group of
low handicappers for his return to form and winner of the A Flight and
Martin Zimmerman took top spot for the B Flight boys.
Near pins by Brian Prudden and Keith Warboys (nearly an
ace!) rounded out the headliners for this months’ medal. Please see our
facebook page: www.facebook.com/golfclubpattaya for more results and details
of upcoming events and road trips.
Note: The Golf Club is located on Soi LK Metro and
we play on Monday, Wednesday and Friday so come join us for a fun day out.

Mashi makes it another month on top
PSC golf from Tropical Bert’s
Tuesday’s flight winners Alan
Sullivan and Carole Kubicki with one of Bert’s ‘finest’.
Derek Brook
Tuesday, December 27, Khao
Kheow – Stableford
This being ‘The MBMG Golfer of the Month’ day, we will
get the result out of the way by declaring that at the end of the day winner
was Mashi Kaneta. Now I usually let the suspense build up to the end, but I
tried to do it that way and it usually ends with Mashi coming in ahead of
the field. So that is out of the way. Mind, it did get quite tight at the
end despite Mashi having a great day and in the end he only won by a measly
one point, but as they say an inch is as good as a mile.
The day started as usual but with an overfull start list
we had to get all organised and get to K.K. early as we had extra players
and needed to get there early and slip in an odd group, so we did and were
able to get off early. Good old K.K. However, it was behind a packed field
and the odd five-ball.
Dick Warberg (left) presents
the MBMG Golfer of the Month award to Mashi Kaneta.
It was of course windy and we were playing the B & C
Nines, so with a packed field we had time to smell the roses, at least with
the front nine, then the group ahead of us got fed up with waiting and
dropped out and from then on we seemed to zoom along. The course itself is
now drying up so the ball gets plenty of run, however with the ground
getting more arid it is getting harder and the rough is also drying out so
it is not as penal.
What was obvious from the start was that Mashi was having
one of his good days; he can be a nuisance at times, however straight down
the middle the points were adding up and at halfway he had twenty two points
so was flying. He only had to stick at it, and he did so and with 40 points
it seemed that nothing could stop him as this is a really tough track off
the Yellow Tees. Surely he was a shoo-in.
Back at Bert’s the players were tucking into Bert’s
Golfers Special, and also happy hour, so it was a little time before the
results could be called and the scores were excellent for this tough course.
In the A Flight (0-18) the winner with 41 points was Alan
Sullivan, with Mashi in second place with 40 points. In third was Brian
Parrish with 36 points and in fourth was John Roberts with 35 points.
In the B Flight the winner was Carole Kubicki with 38
points. The Kubicki warning went out but we failed to stop the ‘Boss
Kubicki’. In second place was Dick Warberg with 37 points on count back
ahead of Bernie Cairns in third. In fourth was Graham Buckingham with 33
points.
So the MBMG Golfer of the Month was Mashi Kaneta, yes I
know I said it already, but it could be worth a free beer. T.T.F.N.

Stuart Thompson best of the week
IPGC golf from The Haven
Stuart Thompson.
Monday, December 26,
Khao Kheow – Stableford
CSS 72
1st Stuart Thompson (10) 41pts
2nd Markku Tynell (27) 37pts
3rd Alan Griffiths (11) 37pts
4th Martin Grimoldby (5) 35pts
5th Jim Swander (17) 34pts
Following a very hard week of golf, starting out this
week promised to be more of the same as the A and C courses were to be
taken on at arguably one of the toughest tests in the area, but with
many of the yellow tee markers set on the whites positions which
shortened the course considerably, the scores were much better than
expected.
Al Rolnik.
The vagaries of the various course managements in the
area regarding the idea of a measured course, which is the cornerstone
of every handicap system, bears out the need for any system to be able
to change the rating as required. In this respect the calculation of a
Competition Standard Scratch for every score entered is a great
advantage as it is employed by the CONGU system. Even though the day’s
tees would normally have been considered to be quite short and possibly
had the rating reduced to say 70 or even 69, the total returns from the
entrants determined that the correct rating of the course on the day was
72 for it to be comparable with all other courses in use under the
system.
Stuart Thompson’s winning score of 41 was therefore a
very good result that not only deserved to win the competition but was
also worth the reduction of a stroke on his handicap when compared to
the rest of the entrants, and fully deserved the applause when the
announcement of his win was made at the prize giving.
Alan Pilkington.
Markku Tynell’s daily visits to the driving range on
the days that he is not competing is starting to pay dividends as he
took second place after winning a count back over Alan Griffiths with a
better score of 21 to 18 over the inward half.
Martin Grimoldby just slipped into the buffer zone to
claim fourth while Jim Swander made it a happy return to Pattaya with a
solid round that placed him fifth.
There were no 2’s in the second division but Martin
Grimoldby swept the first division including the rollover with the solo
one in the first.
Before presenting the prizes Stephen Beard welcomed
back Jim Swander, Wayne Challis, Markku Tynell, Peter Hall, Gaute Moen
and Mark Cooper.

After recently getting some poor reports, a much
smaller group turned out for the trip to Eastern Star where they found
the course to be in very good shape and having obviously been rather
misrepresented by previous reporters. The good condition did not help
the scoring though as the length, at almost 6,700 yards, and difficulty
undermined even the toughest competitors with al Rolnik sticking to the
task the best to record a win, which even with the CSS moving out to 75,
will not affect his handicap.
Wayne Challis, another taking full advantage of the
rest days to practice and take lessons, surprised himself to take second
spot three behind the winner, with Peter Hall slipping into third after
a count back with Alwyne Burley that he won by a margin of 12 to 11.
Although the scores would appear to indicate
otherwise, all the players agreed that they will be back at the course
as soon as it appears on the schedule again.
There were no 2’s in either division.
Friday, December 30,
Greenwood - Stableford
CSS 72
1st Alan Pilkington (9) 38pts
2nd Markku Tynell (27) 36pts
3rd Dave Thompson (19) 35pts
4th Rick Schramm (7) 34pts
5th Mark Cooper (11) 33pts
With some of the local courses making the New Years
Eve a holiday priced day, once again we travelled a short distance
further to play the excellent conditioned Greenwood A and C courses
which provide a combined length of almost exactly 6,600 yards and a very
stern test of golf for the most discerning golfer.
Alan Pilkington played his best round of the month to
take the day’s top honours by two points ahead of Markku Tynell, who put
in another solid round to take his second podium placing of the week.
Dave Thompson did just enough to put his marker on
third spot one behind and one ahead of Rick Schramm in fourth.
Mark Cooper got his first mention of this trip with a
card that was just outside his buffer zone.
Once again there were no 2’s in the second division
but Rick Schramm holed one to take the first division pool.
Back at The Haven, Nicolaas Bakker was welcomed as a
new member prior to the presentations.
Note: The Haven group now departs Soi 13 at
the earlier time of 09.00 am until further notice. If you would like to
play with the group you can contact mobile 082 219 0965 or call in to
the Haven Hotel at 185 Soi 13 between Beach Road and 2nd
Road. All transportation to the course is arranged and you do not need
to sign up prior to the day, but you should be there by 8.30 on Mondays,
Wednesday,
Fridays and 9.00am on Sundays on the days you wish to play. A
schedule of courses to be played can be found on our web site at

Banks well in credit at Phoenix
Pattaya Golf Society (IPGC) at Rabbi’s Elephant Bar
The Pattaya Golf Society visited Phoenix for the first
time in a while on Boxing Day to play a post-festive stableford competition
over the Lakes and Ocean nines, which were in good condition with quick
greens.
The party was divided into two flights at nineteen and
under and play got away early on the fairly empty course. As a result of the
conditions scores were generally good with Gordon Everingham’s 33 points
taking third place in the second flight. Above him was Charlie Charalambous
with a splendid 37 point return on his first visit this trip. The flight
winner was Larry Ang and his good form continued with an excellent forty-one
points to take the flight by storm.
In the top flight Dave Cadwallader and Jean Morel both
recorded 37 points for a a share of second place whilst Ray Banks provided
the round of the day with 42 points off his gross 75. It was an outstanding
effort by the nine-handicapper and it even included a scratched hole.
The ‘2’s pot was shared by Peter Masters, Rick Schramm
and Joe Niisato and the Booby Bevy went to Gubbi Innvaer for his low score
of the day.
The year was ending well for both Ray Banks and Larry Ang
and they can look forward with renewed hope to 2012.
Stumped
by the Stimp
On Wednesday, 28th December, the Pattaya Golf Society
visited beautiful Bangpra to play its monthly medal round on the course
which was superbly presented, with greens of a speed seldom seen away from
the television, and which really tested the patience and skill of the two
flights.
The cut was at fifteen and under and the large field had
to endure a wait before teeing off as the course was well populated with
festive Japanese tourists. Plenty of time for the practice green then!
In the top flight Paul Bartlett enjoyed his final round
this trip with a net 79, his three rounds this visit being a cameo of the
good golf he has discovered after many years of trying in LoS. In second
place was Swedish lady golfer Helene Lindberg with net 78 but both were a
long way behind winner David Milne who once again treated himself to a round
of power with a return of net 74.
In the second flight Ronnie Ramsay sat in third place
with net 79, a couple behind runner-up Gary Bolger on net 77. The winner was
Jean Morel with net 74 who showed that length is not a prerequisite for
success at Bangpra, so much as accuracy, touch and feel on the tricky
greens.
There were no birdie ‘2’s and the Booby Bevy went to Ray
Banks for an uncharacteristic dozen on hole number four, after his career
best in Thailand of 42 points only two days previously. Bangpra in this
condition needs special skills and the rest of the field will feel more at
home on the greens elsewhere as the New Year approaches.
The ‘Boss’ draws the
curtain in style
The final competition day of 2011 for the Pattaya Golf
Society was played out at Century Chonburi on Friday, 30th December under a
cloudless sky and on a course which has been transformed, with newly sanded
bunkers and the provision of rakes! Fairways were still dry and hard but the
greens showed some tasty pace and consistency. In all truth the four red
bills that are exchanged for a round there are astounding value on a public
holiday and a prompt start with no delays elsewhere on the course made for a
very enjoyable experience indeed.
Liam Slattery, making his competitive debut with the
group, surprised himself with 29 points to share third place with the old
warhorse Pat Murphy and a couple of points ahead was Dave Cadwallader,
continuing his good form this trip. The winner, fittingly perhaps, was Mr
Len and his level par round was the perfect way to close a tough year both
personally and in golf terms.
There were no birdie ‘2’s and Larry Ang’s “hero-to-zero”
performance was duly recognised with the Booby Bevy.
The PGS is extremely grateful for the loyalty and support
shown by its members throughout a tough year and looks forward to better
times ahead. Thus the curtains were drawn on 2011 with the PGS and as the
“Old Man with the Beard” headed for the door the Soi Buakhao group were left
to ponder the new. Health, happiness, a firm stroke and a deft touch are
certainly on everyone’s wish list.

A Chetland combo at Emerald
and top spot
PSC golf from The Fairways Golf Society
A Flight winner at Emerald, Bo
Engstrom (left).
Tuesday,
December 27,
The Emerald - P.A.G.S monthly tournament
Once again we had a fantastic turnout for the final round
of our monthly P.A.G.S. tournament with over 90 entrants. Much to their
pleasant surprise they all received a free turkey sandwich on the first tee.
This seemed to go down really well and got everybody off to a good start.
The day was slightly marred with rumours flying about
concerning certain players manipulating their handicaps by entering their
own cards on the internet. Unfortunately, while the Pattaya Sports Club and
the U.S.G.A. system allows this practice there is not much we can do about
it. Hopefully next year we will be monitoring things more closely and will
add our own handicapping policy to prevent this happening in the future.
Anyway this did not affect the vast majority as almost
everybody had a great day, with lots of friendly banter with some good and
some not so good golf.
Keep It in the family: B
Flight & Ladies winners Tony & Wendy Chetland.
It was a great day out for the Chetland family as Tony
won the B flight while his lovely wife took the honours in the Ladies
division. There was an abundance of prizes on offer today so the competition
was very with several places won on count back.
Technical prizes went to following players:
Longest Drives: Srithong, Mrs Hotmann, Mike Ryder (2),
Jack Grinvold, and Mark Reid.
Long Putts: Paul McGowan & Morton Gauslaa.
Near Pins in three shots: James Sheffield (2) & Jack
Bowman.
Nearest the Tree: Dang Onskun.
Near Pin in two: Gary Saunders, Richard Hurley, Kalanee,
George Robinson, Johnathon Grindvold, and Mikael Anderson.
Near Pins: Morton Gauslaa, Eric Reginiussen, Yusa, John
Newsome, Nils Svensson, and Ning Neal.
Once again three flights for the men plus a ladies
division. And the placings were:
A Flight (0-13)
1st Bo Engstrom (13) 35pts
2nd Pier Cere (13) 35pts
3rd Johnathon Grindvold (4) 35pts
B Flight (14-19)
1st Tony Chetland (19) 39pts
2nd Alban Mathiasson (15) 36pts
3rd Bob Moore (16) 34pts
C Flght (20-28)
1st Kenny Chung (28) 36pts
2nd Ken Meek (23) 36pts
3rd Nils Svensson (25) 35pts
Ladies
1st Wendy Chetland (30) 37pts
2nd Yusa (24) 35pts
The men’s order of merit winner was decided on the last
two holes of the final round with Jack Bowman needing two pars to secure the
championship, but alas he could only manage two bogeys. So Gary Saunders
came first over all with 576 points ahead of Jack on 570. Third place went
to Mikael Anderson with 558 points, fourth to Gavin Perfect (557) and fifth
Richard Hurley (538).
The competition for the ladies overall winner was even
tighter with only two points separating the first three. Ning Neal
eventually prevailed to take the title with 592 points, from Noi Emerson
(591pts) in second and Yusa (590) third.
We would like to thank Russell Exley for being the rules
official for the day; thankfully he did not have any decisions to make.
The guys back at the Fairways once again did an excellent
job with the barbecue and presentation and as usual the celebrations went on
well into the night.
The first round of the P.A.G.S. tournament in 2012 will
be held at Pleasant Valley on Tues 24th of Jan. Please assist us by putting
your entries in early.
Friday, December 30,
Greenwood - Stableford
What a great day for golf - not too hot with a pleasant
breeze on a great golf course. With twenty players in two divisions we were
expecting some good scores but we only had two players managing to play to
par or better.
Pier Cere, who seems to have just hit form, took the A
Flight with an excellent 39 points while Tony Chetland, also on a good run,
took the B Flight with a net level par round.
Near pins went to Pier Cere, Keith Woolley, Tony Chetland
and Arlen.
A Flight
1st Pier Cere (13) 39pts
2nd Keith Woolley (14) 34pts
3rd Barry Wellings (5) 33pts
B Flight
1st Tony Chetland (19) 36pts
2nd Ken Meek (23) 33pts
3rd Roy Dayton (24) 33pts

McGahan the clear winner
at Greenwood
PSC golf from The Caddyshack
Wednesday, Dec. 28, Green
Valley - Scramble
The Caddyshack monthly scramble was held at Green Valley
on Wednesday and the team of Emmet White, Ben Findon, Glen Elsworth and John
Roberts came in with a fine score of 58.2 to win overall ahead of Dave
Hester, Derek Wilkin, Mark Williams and D Taylor on 59.8, while the quartet
of Graham Beaumont, Arch Armstrong, Richard Steadman and Geoff Couch took
third place with a net 60.8.
Friday, December 30,
Greenwood - Stableford
A Flight
1st Phonsie McGahan (7) 38pts
2nd Glen Elsworth (14) 36pts
3rd Mark William (9) 34pts
B Flight
1st Bruce Tollitt (20) 35pts
2nd Brian Orr (16) 35pts
3rd Derek Wilkin (17) 34pts
Two flights on Friday at Greenwood with the top score of
38 points coming in the premier division from Phosie McGahan. Bruce Tollitt
led the second flight home but only after winning a count back over Brian
Orr with both players tied on 35 points each.
Rawling on a roll to end the year
Phoenix Tuesday/Friday Golf Group
Peter Rawling and
Dennis Dixon.
Mike Gerrard
Three days to report on this week: first Friday, December
23 when the man from Oman, Paul Sharples, returned to form after a lean
spell with a super 40 points. This was bound to happen because Paul had
played so badly for some time that his handicap had reached mid double
figures from the single handicapper I once knew. The good news for everyone
else is that he will soon be back to single figures!
In second place was yours truly (Mike Gerrard) with 39
points with a three-putt on the last to give it to Paul. Making up the third
spot was Denis Dixon with 37 points.
Near pins went to Mukesh Thakker, Peter Rawling, Paul
Sharples & Ted Oreton with the lucky draw going to Chris Coffey.
On to Sunday, December 25, yes it was Christmas Day but
there was no snow for any reindeer and sleigh to get through, so we enjoyed
blue skies with temperatures around the 27 degrees. Much better than all
that slush and frost!
Santa made it a good day for Patrick Browne who scored 38
points to win the day, with Paul Sharples a close second on 36 points
(respect to Paul on cutting himself two shots before today’s game) and Goort
Gelten in third place with 35 points.
Near pin winners today were John Kelly & Damien Malloy
and lucky draw winners were Mike Gerrard & Stuart Gordon.
So onto the biggy of the week, Tuesday, December 27, and
with a full field we set off on the Ocean/Mountain course with a stroke play
competition for the Trattoria Italiana monthly voucher.
These stroke play games sort the men from the boys in
golfing terms; many of our players (including myself) had some very bad
holes which makes it nigh on impossible to recover. Thank goodness we can
have a private match to keep us interested.
However not only did Peter Rawling and Dennis Dixon
(shown in photo) take first and fourth places today, they were indeed
partners in a four-ball and duly mugged myself and Eamon Murtagh into
submission long before the end of the round.
So Peter Rawling claimed the Trattoria Italiana voucher
with a net 70, Bill Hewitt was second with a net 71 and Stuart Gordon was
third with a net 72 after edging Denis Dixon into fourth place on count
back.
The day was made more frustrating by the last group
failing to bring in the near pin flags and I was sure that I, myself, may
have won two of them. Never mind, the funds went into the lucky draw.
Back at the Relax Bar we had arranged an end of the year
party and our hosts duly donated the lucky draw prizes (of which there were
so many I will not print) and a truly splendid buffet for the players and
their guests.
Final thanks for the year go to the following names: To
all our sponsors: Trattoria Italiana, KPK Food Services, Nemo’s Music Lounge
and The Relax Bar. Thank you for all the donations and support over the last
year.
Also my thanks go out to anyone who has supported and
assisted in any way, especially Stuart Gordon, Bob Neylon, Clive Robinson,
Patrick (The Flash) Browne & Richard Baldwin, who assists with the
presentation most weeks, plus everyone who has participated over the year.
Our thoughts went out to Hugh Byrne, who is now
thankfully recovering back in Ireland after a few weeks of messy surgery.
Get well soon Hugh and get back to fun city.
Sunday, Tuesday and Friday golf is very much on the
agenda for the next 3 to 4 months at least (and beyond hopefully), so if
anyone would like to join in please contact me (Mike) on 087 091 7565.

The four wise men
PSC golf from Lewiinski’s Golf Society
Peter Kelly celebrates with
Brad and Lou.
Sunday 25th
December Green Valley
A Flight
1st Thierry Petrement (12) 37 pts
2nd Yui Bietry (9) 35 pts
B Flight
1st Pat Regan (14) 37 pts
2nd Claude Harder (15) 37 pts
Near Pins: No 4 Jan Eriksen No 9 Kevin Mcentee No
12 Claude Harder No 16 J-P Gasser
There is something unreal about playing golf on Christmas
day in 38 degrees of heat, which may have had something to do with the
number who turned out for the experience, playing after a busy Christmas Eve
schedule and to a somewhat early start which found more than a few of them
half asleep.
Pat Regan.
Four of the regulars however had figured 37 points just
might win the day’s event (hence the title) and Thierry Petrement was one of
these as his 37 points took the top spot in A Flight. Gentle man Patrick
Kelly in true Irish spirit put ladies before gentle men and allowed Yui
‘Cinderella’ Bietry to lift the silver and stand aside.
There was no such Christmas spirit shown in B Flight as
Irishman young Pat Regan emerged from the remaining wise men to grab the
gold. Santa Claude Harder was not in his usual giving away mood either as he
filled the Flight.
J-P Gasser was left coinless but you cannot keep a good
man down or out of the money, especially one that is riding a purple patch,
as he and Young Pat Regan split the 2’s pot.
Lewiinski’s and the scribe would like to take this
opportunity to wish all our friends golfers and readers a Happy Christmas
and a prosperous New Year.
Monday,
December 26,
Treasure Hill - Stableford
1st John Feehan (16) 31pts
2nd J-P Maffray (12) 30 pts
A small group chose to brave the longish ride and the
tough layout at Treasure Hills. Irishman John Feehan let neither deter him
from his game as he was the best on the day with 31 points (I did mention it
was tough).
You cannot keep J-P off the podium, but this was not J-P
Gasser as he had the day off to let his irons cool down; no this was J-P
Maffray just one stroke off the pace.
Peter Hendenberg slotted home the only ‘2’ of the day.
Wednesday,
December 28
Greenwood A&C - Stableford
A Flight
1st Francis Goyons (9) 41pts
2nd Thierry Petrement (12) 38pts
3rd Paul Bray (5) 36pts
B Flight
1st Nick Odnoral (17) 39pts
2nd Serge Straeten (17) 37pts
3rd Adam Oyston (17) 36pts
Francis Goyons garnered the top spot in A Flight with a
blistering 41 points. The rest of the low handicappers showed well on the
day with no stranger to the pay window Thierry Petrement having to settle
for second despite a solid 38 points. Thierry nipped Paul Bray by two shots
as he filled the flight.
B Flight had a man in the shape of Nick Odnoral who
topped out monsieur Serge Straeten by two points. Adam Oyston, using the
guile commensurate of his skill, took the count back from Irishman Jerry
McCarthy to round out the flight.
Francis Goyons, J-P Grasser, Peter Henshaw and Big Frank
McNamara divvied up the 2’s pot.
The mountaineers are back safely. No sign of the Yeti
although Lou thought he was on the right track till he realized he was
following Bob’s extra large foot prints in the snow. Bob’s Xmas pork pie
went down about as fast his accent. What then for next year, lost tribes in
the Amazon rain forest perhaps? Only in Thailand and Preston, hey Jez?
Friday December 30 -
Mountain Shadow - Stableford
A Flight
1st Patrick Kelly (+2) 34pts
2nd Simon Kendall (8) 34pts
3rd J-P Gasser (13) 33pts
B Flight
1st Ed Junger (20) 37pts
2nd Jean Morel (18) 35pts
3rd Peter Henshaw (17) 35pts
Mountain Shadow can play as tough as any course around
and that was certainly in evidence today as only one competitor bettered
par. Ed Junger took the top spot in B Flight and the match honors with a
rock solid 37 points. Ed’s score was two clear of Jean Morel and Peter ‘Don
Corleone’ Henshaw, with Jean having the best of the resulting count back.
In A Flight the calculator was out again to separate
Patrick (+2) Kelly and Simon Kendall - Patrick proving once again his liking
for the layout as he got the nod. Not bad considering he played of the black
tees! J-P Gasser never far from the pay window filled the flight.
2’s - a shed full.
Note: Lewiinski’s is situated on Pattaya Land Soi
1, Beach Road Soi 13/3 near to Walking Street. Anyone wishing to play with
us just pop in and add your name to the list or call Colin on 089 826 0764.
Transport is provided.

Large field takes on Eastern Star
Jomtien Golf with the IPGC
Monday,
December 26, Pattana - Stableford
After two days of the Christmas frolics we expected a few
cancellations and no-shows this morning but this was kept to a minimum;
there were 32 names on the board on Friday and in the end we fielded 26 out
today.
Our last two visits here the wind had been moderate but
today a strong wind was coming from all directions so we decided to play off
the yellow tees. Division 1 was 7-20 and 21 plus in the second and we were
allocated the B and C courses, which proved to be a good test of golf for
the first drive for everybody.
Playing off 14, the best returned score of the day was in
division 1 with Keith Wooley winning with 38 points. Jerry Macarthy took
second; beating Mauri Friman on a remarkable 22/19 back nine count back
after they both finished 1 point behind Keith.
Three players in division 2 all returned with 36 points
and after being cut by two shots last week and now playing off 26, Paul
Chabot beat Willy Van Heetvelde on an 11/8 back six count back after they
both scored 19 points on the back nine, and Pepo Frick, who scored 22 on the
front nine, lost out with 14 on the back nine.
Near pins went to Michael Healey, Max Wilson, Keith
Wooley, Chris Voller, Mauri Friman, Bryan Priestley, Rudi Schaefer and Dave
Thompson.
In division 1 there were no ‘2’s but in the second flight
with two rollovers Mauri Friman birdied the third on the B course and Bryan
Priestley the second on the C course to win the maximum pot each.
Wednesday,
December 28,
Greenwood -
Stableford
We arrived 30 minutes ahead of our schedule and we teed
off straight away, but this proved a problem after playing nine holes on the
A course as there were three groups still on the B course waiting to start
their round, so we had a small hold-up but this caused no real problems.
It was a quiet period now with the festive season up and
running are there were only 8 four-balls out today.
Playing off the white tees with the cut in 3 divisions of
7-15, 16-20 and 21 plus, the best returned score was 38 points in division 3
by Willy Van Heetveld while Paul Chabot beat Mark Armstrong on a 17/14 back
nine count back after they both came in with 33 points.
Mike Missler won division 1 with 35 points and Dennis
Scougal beat Matti Pihlajisto on a 15/14 back nine count back for second
after they both returned scores of 31.
Dave Thompson’s 35 topped division 2 scoring, with Bryan
Rought beating the newly returned Sheffield lad, Howard Stanley, on a 17/13
back nine count back.
Near pins were claimed by John Chambers, Martin Macateer,
Mark Armstrong, Mauri Friman and Dave Thompson.
There were no ‘2’s today.
Friday, December 30,
Eastern Star - Stableford
Our largest turnout of the week with 46 players, the
ladies had a field of 6 out and the normal three divisions for the men with
the cut exactly the same as Wednesday.
Still in form after winning with 35 points at Greenwood,
Mike Missler took top podium position in division 1 with 38 points. Chris
Voller was second 5 points behind and Barney Sheedey beat Bill Bertram on a
18/15 count back after they both scored 32 points.
Harry Riley, back in form, won division 2 with 37 points,
Darryl Blair was second on 33 and Jerry McArthy claimed third with 31.
The Oz boy Chris Reed took out division 3 with 36 points,
Willy Van Heetvelde came second on 33 and Bryan Priestley was in third with
32.
In the ladies competition two scores came in to
contention for first prize, but Toi Blair edged Jill Stanley on a 20/14 back
nine count back after they both scored 34 points.
Near pins went to Verana Suhr, Mike Missler, Mark Prytz
(2), Volkner Suhr, Bruce Gardner, Gel Lodge, Chris Reed and Harry Riley.
Standing on the 14th tee there were loud screams coming
off the 13th as Mike Missler’s shot finished three inches short of the hole
that would have cost him an arm and a leg, but he still sank the only ‘2’ in
division 1, while Yuza Reginiussen birdied the 6th for the first ladies ‘2’
for some time. Well done Yuza!
Note: Jomtien Golf Kanchanaburi trip has been
organised for the week of 12 February for a three round competition.

Rod Ishii makes his mark on monthly trophy
PSC golf from the Three Sisters Bar
The Three Sisters Group teed off at their usual 06:30 at
the Pattaya Country Club on 28th of December. This being the end of the
month the winner would have his name engraved on the “trophy”.
The weather was great and the course was in good
condition. On the way back from golfing, Herbie Ishinaga managed to roll his
ancient Toyota sedan. Ironically, Herbie had not been drinking. Jim Hern and
Paul Kraft had a devil of a time getting Herbie out of the car through the
driver’s window, no small feat if you know Herbie’s size. Fortunately no
serious injuries were incurred.
Back at Caddy Shack II, the cards were tallied and Rod
Ishii came in on top with 35 points. There was a two-way tie for second
place that included Joe St. Laurent and Don Goins, both with 34 points.
Geoff & Neville both have a good day at Emerald
Geoff celebrates
his win outside Kisses Bar.
The final game of the year for the Backyard Golf Society
at the Emerald Golf Course started out with everyone in high spirits until
arriving at the course. With the car park three quarters full you could just
tell it was going to be a very slow round.
We welcomed Kit as the newest member of the society and
started with nine players, all of whom were in all competitions.
As expected it was very slow going but obviously the
speed of the round suited Geoff as he ended up winning with 41 points!
Neville missed out on the win (even with a very creditable 38 points) but
more than made up for it in the skins competition by taking (12). JJ won
nearest the pin with the other skin results as follows: Geoff (2), Bob G
(2), Kit (1), and one rollover to next week.
One final piece of news for the year is that since the
formation of the society, ‘Broken Wing’ has been our Chairman but has now
decided to relinquish his responsibility to a younger man! So good luck
Terry C and you will need it.

Phill Waite(s) for no man
PSC Golf from Mulligans Lakeside
Phill Waite & Willem Lasonder
after Thursday’s success.
Tuesday,
December 27,
Treasure Hill - Stableford
Tuesday was a smooth drive up Highway 331 to Treasure
Hill, where we decided to play from the Yellow Tees for a change. Other than
one player, there was not much difference in the usual scores; Phill Waite
(15), playing his first time with ML was well and truly out on his own, with
a fine 39 points. Next best was Kurt Erik Persson aka K (29) with 34, while
Mam (27) rounded out the placings with 30 points.
Phill was to the fore with 2 near pins, Allan and Ian
getting the others.
Thursday,
December 29,
Crystal Bay - Stableford
Thursday, we travelled to Crystal Bay, again joining up
with PJ Bar, with the C & A combination being our test.
Phill Waite (15) proved Tuesday was no fluke with another
fine 37 points, just edging Willem Lasonder (20) on count back 20/15.
Near pins were scored by Allan, Willem & Joel, with 1
going to Banglamung Boys Home.
Note: Mulligans Lakeside plays golf generally on a
Tuesday & Thursday, with ML hosting timely presentations on both days. Call
089 094 1841 for scheduling or enquiries. Hope to see you there, cheers &
good golfing!

700 seat Muay Thai boxing stadium opens
Muay Thai fighters pose with
officials and dignitaries, including Pol. Gen. Boonlert Kaewprasert,
President of International Boxing Association of Thailand, and Ithipol
Kunplume, Mayor of Pattaya City, at the official opening of Pattaya Boxing
World on December 23.
Manoon Makpol
Pattaya’s largest Muay Thai boxing stadium has opened to
the public, targeting Russian, Indian and Asian package tourists to fill its
700 seats.
Thai National Police Gen. Boonlert Kaewprasert, president
of the International Boxing Association of Thailand, and Mayor Itthiphol
Kunplome opened Pattaya Boxing World on Sukhumvit Road near Mini Siam on
Dec. 23.
Pattaya Boxing World Group Executive Director Oros
Chutimant said more than 20 million baht was spent on the facility to make
it one of the city’s premier tourist attractions. Initially, the stadium
will be taking only tourists on package tours, but plans call for opening up

Oros said increasing interest in Muay Thai boxing around
