The commander of the Air and Coastal Defense Command inspected
more than 1,500 troops, saying many could be dispatched to help flood
victims throughout the country.
Maj. Gen. Noppadol Suphakorn inspected formations at the Sattahip
command center Oct. 25 along with seven other commanders.
The ground troops were led by Capt. Phanuwat Inthanil, deputy commander
of the Support Department, with nine battalions composed of 1,500
sailors hailing from the 1st Ground Battalion and 2nd Group Battalion
from the Naval Recruit Training Center, 3rd and 4th ground battalions
from the ACDC, 5th and 6th ground battalions from Air Defense Artillery
Regiment 2, 7th and 8th ground battalions from Coastal Department Region
1 and the 9th Ground Battalion from the ACDC.
In addition, there have been preparations to dispatch forces to help
flood victims in hard-hit areas. Previous damage and losses have taught
the navy to make more preparations, Noppadol said.
