Thai 7-Eleven stores are using social media to help reduce the
number of the chain’s plastic bags polluting the environment.
Franchiser CP ALL Co. and the Ministry of Natural Resources and
Environment kicked off the campaign May 20 at the Pattaya Floating
Market with the Green World Foundation and about 50 7-Eleven employees.
CP ALL Managing Director Piyawat Titasattavorakul acknowledged that the
millions of plastic bags Thai 7-Elevens have handed out are a
contributor to global warming and encourage both customers and employees
to refrain from using bags for small items and purchases. He also
encouraged people to recycle and think twice before using plastic bags
for any reason.
The presentation included a trek during which participants were
encouraged to snap and upload photographs related to plastic bag use to
a CP ALL Co. website sponsored by Samsung Electronics. People can upload
photos with the caption “Don’t accept plastic bags for small items” to
Kidtoong.com through June 4.
