Police arrive on the scene of this Songkran
related accident. About 1,000 police officers and volunteers are on
patrol for the Songkran finale this weekend.

About 1,000 police officers and volunteers will be on patrol as
Pattaya celebrates its official Songkran day Saturday.
Beach Road from the Dolphin Roundabout to Walking Street and up to the
intersection of South and Second Roads will be closed from 8 a.m. to 8
p.m. for the water fight known as “Wan Lai.” Water supplies will be
available at nine locations along the soggy strip.
The annual Songkran flower parade will start at Chaimongkol Temple and
run down Second Road to Central Road, back along Beach Road and
returning to the temple. All streets between Beach and Second roads will
also be closed to traffic.
The main attraction will be at the Beach and Central roads intersection
where there will be a fountain curtain installed for tourists to enjoy
the beauty and capture images for memories and this year. The fountain
curtain will be more impressive this year with 12 spouts.
Pattaya has coordinated with Banglamung, Nongprue, Pattaya, Tourist and
Highway police, using 425 cops to supervise traffic and safety, with 575
Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan medics and civil defense volunteers
bolstering their efforts. There will be checkpoints on main roads
including officers on foot to monitor the safety during the day.
Roads leading into Pattaya, including Sukhumvit and Thepprasit, also are
expected to be jammed with out-of-town Thais coming to Pattaya for one
last water fight.
