Banglamung District Chief Sakchai Taengho has ordered a crackdown on
minivan operators in Pattaya following complaints from residents regarding
safety and service.
After surveying the area, Sakchai said he found there are about 30-40 van
stations servicing Pattaya, both legally and illegally. So he has requested the
Chonburi Land Transportation Office to check licenses and regulations.
He also plans to call a meeting of van operators to set guidelines and review
service and traffic standards. The authority will also perform regular urine
drug tests of drivers to help prevent accidents from intoxicated drives.
