Vietnamese police officials were in Pattaya last week to study
how local cops nab bad guys with an eye toward incorporating Thai
tactics into police academy classes.
Pattaya’s police chief, Pol. Col. Supathee Bungkhrong welcomed Pol. Maj.
Gen. Pham Ngoc Ha, vice president of the Vietnam People’s Police Academy
and a delegation from the Ministry of Defense to the Soi 9 headquarters
July 17.
The delegation visited Pattaya to study the policing undertaken by the
Royal Thai Police. After introductions and an exchange of work
experiences between representatives from both countries, the Vietnamese
visited each of the departments within the Pattaya Police Station before
seeing the firearms display by the special-weapons and tactics team and
exchanging souvenirs.
Pham said he was very pleased to visit Pattaya Police Station and
praised the proactive crime prevention saying he likely will adopt some
guidelines for Vietnamese policing in the future. Besides the objectives
of studying and exchanging working experiences with Thai police, the
visit was also organized to promote good relations between Thailand and
the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
