Sattahip police arrested 12 people and seized a half-dozen angry
roosters during a raid of an illegal cockfighting ring.
Suriya Trikit, 26, Marut Warothai, 71, Sombat Suayngam, 46, Wut Homsiri,
78, Wiroj Ninsiri, 60, Somnuek Poomsod, 38, Saichon Konaban, 57,
Tanachot Yooyen, 41, Kamol Saisriyoot, 59, Prasert Ampa, 69, Wiriyachai
Suksawat, 46, and Sombat Othan, 59, were taken into custody in the Aug.
16 afternoon operation at the Bo Song Ban Taothan community.
Police said they were tipped off to the cockfighting by a neighbor.
Officers arrived to find about 30 gamblers, ages up to 80, cheering
around the ring where the chickens were fighting. Upon seeing police,
the men and birds scattered in various directions and police were only
able to nab 12 of the suspects.
All were charged with gambling offenses.
