Rabies
warning
The Department of Public Health wishes to inform the public that there
is no cure for rabies and that it is fatal in 100% of those infected
with it. This announcement came as a result of 4 recent cases of rabies
in the area caused by the lack of pre-bite or after-bite vaccination.
The Department of Public Health also announced that there is deficient
knowledge on this subject on the publics’ part. Some people who have
received bites from animals try home remedies, which are never
effective, or seeing no symptoms feel they are safe.
If you are bitten by any warm-blooded animal, wash the wound with a
disinfectant, capture the animal if it presents no danger, and take the
animal and the person bitten and see your doctor immediately.
