German perverts jailed
Dieter-Fritz Ullmann, 43, and Thomas Sassen, 33, both
from Berlin, Germany, were jailed last week for the commercial sexual
exploitation of children in Thailand, the first case of its kind in Germany.
The two men admitted making pornographic films and photographs of boys aged
9 to 14 in 1994 and 1995. The material was reproduced and sold by mail order
in Germany.
The prosecution said Ullmann, a sales clerk, and Sassen, a computer
specialist, setup a business in 1994 to produce pornographic material for
sale to paedophiles. They were arrested in November 1995 after customs
officials in Frankfurt intercepted material they had sent from Thailand.
Ullmann was sentenced to four years, and Sassen to four years and ten
months.
Sassen, who had come to Pattaya twice in 1994, was said to have photographed
12 boys during sexual acts with adults. According to the prosecution, the
boys were tied up and tortured in some cases. The boys were given money to
pose.
