Police clean-up nets pot bust
As a part of their recent ‘clean-up’ on illegal
drugs, the Crime Suppression Division has been conducting ‘sting
operations’ targeting sellers of illicit substances.
On their most recent sting, police used marked currency near Happy
A-Go-Go in South Pattaya to nab Pairat Pholert, 31, who sold officers a
20 gram bag of dried marijuana. The Crime Suppression police set up the
sting after learning that there have been many pushers who operate by
walking around tourist areas and selling drugs to both foreigners and
Thais.
After showing their identification to Pairat, they performed a body
search and found an additional 100 grams of pot hidden in his clothing.
They also found four more small bags of the substance on his person. The
total amount of grass found was approximately 128 grams. He was taken to
the Pattaya police station and charged with possession and selling
marijuana, a category 5 illegal drug.
Pairat said he used to be a boxer and after his career was over he
became a bouncer at a well-known cafe. He admitted to selling marijuana
to augment his income.
