Police raided a suspected abortion clinic on Third Road
Feb. 10, arresting four employees and its owner.
Aided by an official from the Chonburi Public Health
Department, human-trafficking division police swept through the Wetchakarn
Clinic, seizing medical equipment and evidence of recent procedures.
Alleged owner Somjai Buasaen, 44, was taken into custody
along with four employees. It is the second time the clinic has been raided
and shut down.
Police claim the clinic operator had enlisted the help of
local motorbike taxi drivers to bring customers to the three-story clinic.
All of the accused were charged with illegally performing
abortions, operating an unlicensed medical clinic and distributing
non-registered pharmaceuticals.
