The Pattaya Mail turns 18 with this issue. It
only seems like 12 months ago when I was writing the same item, but 17
instead of 18. Tempus fugit, and all sorts of other things, they
tell me.
So what has happened in the last 12 months? A new
government has to be the most striking front page in the past year.
Pattaya Mail was there, reporting on the momentous occasion, “Pheu
Thai wins in a landslide.”
But of course, Pattaya Mail was also there
reporting on the everyday life in Pattaya. The daily floods getting the
deserved headline of “More rain, more flooding, Residents wonder when
Pattaya officials will take problem seriously.”
Despite the recurrent damp, Pattaya still has its
show-bizz side. “Humanities student crowned Miss Tiffany Universe 2011”
was the headline in May. Keeping ‘abreast’ of local news is part of our
remit.
However, far from being parochial, your Pattaya
Mail also kept abreast of world news with “William weds Kate as
billions watch” the royal wedding of the year.
With over 50 pages of content each week the
Pattaya Mail continues to present the readers with news, social
commentary, travel, tourism, financial advice, medical columns,
community news and happenings, IT info, wine appreciation, where to
dine, school news, movie reviews, arts, entertainment and lifestyles, a
dedicated motoring page, plus local and international sports from
puddle-jumping to petanque.
The Pattaya Mail continues to provide the most
comprehensive weekly newspaper, and has been doing it for 18 years. We
have no intention of changing that. We are looking forward to
celebrating our 19th birthday with you as well.
