A drunken Irishman who passed out behind the wheel at a
Jomtien Beach intersection was arrested for not only obstructing traffic,
but allegedly possessing a loaded handgun.
Sean Knight, 38, was fast asleep, mouth agape, when
police knocked on the window of his Chevrolet Aveo, which was sitting in
traffic at an intersection on Pratamnak Rd. July 7.
Officers tried to wake the driver, but could not rouse
him. Searching the car, police said they found a Thai-made 45-caliber
pistol, his passport and an identification card of a Thai woman. He was then
cuffed and carried off to a jail cell to sleep off his bender.
Surprised to be waking up in jail, Knight reportedly
denied any knowledge of the gun or its owner.
