Chinese student drowns off Koh Larn

Theerarak Suthathiwong

A Chinese university student drowned while swimming off Koh Larn.

The body of Chendao Yong, 24, was found floating in about a half-meter of water in the Tawan Beach swimming area July 12. The university student from Yunnan was visiting Pattaya as part of a 10-person Chinese tour group and had gone to the island for a leisurely beach trip.

Koh Larn police officer Somchai Maneechot said he was alerted to the drowning by a young boy and called marine rescuers. They arrived too late, however, to aid the swimmer.
