Provincial Waterworks Authority officials once again
assured Pattaya business leaders that the city has more than enough
water to last through the dry season.
Waterworks Assistant
Manager Chaitat Idsang.
At the Jan. 11 meeting of the Pattaya Business &
Tourism Association at the Green Park Hotel, waterworks Assistant
Manager Chaitat Idsang said area reservoirs and pipelines can funnel
more than 250,000 cu. meters of water to Pattaya per day. The city,
however, uses only an average of about 150,000 cu. meters, he said.
Chaitat acknowledged, however, that the PWA isn’t
reliably able to pump all of that water to all of Pattaya’s residents
due to inadequate pressure and pipelines. However, he said, work is
underway to replace small pipes and improve service. Work is expected to
last throughout the year.
Pattaya City Councilman Rattanachai Sutidechanai
stressed the importance of a reliable water system on tourism and noted
that the council has approved a budget to dig a new reservoir in Huay
Yai to supplement eight existing lakes in Chonburi.
