Minister Yongyuth Vichaidit addresses a conference on ways to control the
nation’s drug problems.
At a Jan. 11 conference at the Ambassador City Hotel, Deputy
Prime Minister & Interior Minister Yongyuth Vichaidit and ministry security
chief Phranai Suwanrat laid out five directives to provincial and district
politicians, police and public-health workers.
The directives call for creation or improvement in
community-based anti-drug programs, participation in a national drug strategy,
the use of patriotism to help overcome drugs, and cooperation from all agencies
involved.
Yongyuth said the government has made drug abuse prevention
and control a national priority and the conference was aimed at putting regional
officials to work together to decide on concrete plans for drug programs.
