Authorities rescued 18 protected birds recovered during drug raids in
Sattahip.
District Chief Phawat Lertmukda and officers from the Sattahip Command Centre
for Drug Elimination found 18 red-whiskered bulbuls, a protected species in
Thailand, during the Aug. 4 operation.
They were turned over to the Banglamung Wildlife Breeding Station in Khao Chi On
for nurturing before being returned to the wild.
Phawat said the possession of the birds is prohibited under two different laws.
Those found holding them can face fines and imprisonment.
