Nine ethnic Chinese were arrested in Chonburi following a raid of a
telephone-scam call center.
Immigration and Technology Crime Suppression Division police with observers
from a Chinese police task force stormed the Punya Resort Village in Muang
District Nov. 21 after tracking the Internet address of computers making
scam and extortion calls to China.
They arrested four men - Mu Qing, Wang Wei, Sun Mao Sun and Wang Lipeng, and
two women - Gu Yuanli and Yu Guanghui - from China. They also caught two
Taiwanese men - Lin Kun Chit and Hsieh Tsang Kun - and a Taiwanese woman,
Lin Hua Wen.
Immigration authorities said all the alleged scam artists, led by Mu, had
entered the country on tourist visas. They were detained and prepared for
deportation.
