Officials and health care workers announce this
year’s World AIDS Day activities will once again include a parade with the
slogan “Getting to Zero”.

Pattaya will mark World AIDS with two events focusing on prevention
and early detection.
City Councilman Choosak Sriwatjanapong and Public Health Department Director
Supaporn Cherdchaipoom said students at Pattaya School No. 11 were the focus
of a Nov. 27 event entitled “True love must care & loving safely means
prevention.”
The city will then mark the annual event from 2-6 p.m. Dec. 1 as Mayor
Itthiphol Kunplome and Manaswin “Tik Shiro” Nanthawut will lead a parade
from Central and Beach roads to Pattaya School No. 8, which will begin at 5
p.m.
In addition to the march, there will be quizzes and games for prizes, stage
shows from students, and concerts from various artists.
The World Health Organization designated December 1st every year as World
AIDS Day to raise awareness of the syndrome, and to inspire people to work
together to prevent further outbreaks, with the goal of meeting their slogan
“Getting to Zero”.
With new medicines and treatments, HIV and AIDS are no longer a death
sentence. With the use of antiretroviral meds and changes in lifestyle,
patients can often live long and healthy lives.
Therefore, the theme of this year’s event is “AIDS is treatable if detected
early.” Participants will be giving away free condoms, lubricants and
informational flyers.
