Poor construction in the
nearby Nirand Grand Ville is causing safety problems for residents on
Soi Arunothai.
At 4:30 PM on October 1st, parts of the Nirand Grand
Ville on Soi Arunothai in Pattaya, Chonburi, collapsed causing damage to
three houses in the back of the building.
Residents reported that scaffolding had fallen off the six storey
building and had crashed through their roofs and into their houses. One
of the residents also reported that loose scaffolding boards had fallen
two or three times before this incident, shattering tiles on her roof.
Currently, there is yet another loose piece of scaffolding approximately
50 metres long. If this should fall it would be a major disaster.
Residents have pleaded for the scaffolding to be taken down as it has
been there for four years and the building project has not yet been
finished. Residents feel fortunate that no-one has been injured yet.
The supervisors of the building project promised to repair damages to
residents houses. The residents are also filing a complaint with police
for damages of 50,000 baht.
