Local police turned out in
full force for the activities on Police Day.
Police Major Chongsak Yaemlamool, Commander of the
Pattaya Tourist Police, put his troops to work doing community service on
October 13; Police Day in Thailand.
Police General Pote Boonyajinda, Commander of the Police Force, has made it
his policy for police to engage in special activities to help society every
year on October 13th. In response to his orders, Police Major Chongsak
Yaemlamool organised activities for all the officers under his command.
Local officers were first put to work doing a thorough cleaning of the
police station and grounds. They next cleaned areas under their jurisdiction
and all government vehicles which they use. By doing so, they hoped to
encourage citizens and tourists to keep the beaches and tourist spots of
Pattaya clean.
Next, to show their devotion to the Three Institutions of Thailand; Nation,
Religion (Buddhism) and The Monarchy, all officers in the tourist and
municipal police donated blood at the hospital in Banglamung.
They then joined the business community in providing a lunch and necessary
personal items to the Karuna Nives home for the handicapped in Banglamung.
They also provided the home with non-perishable foods, and donated needed
goods to flood victims on the Eastern Seaboard.
Every year on this day, monks come to the police stations to say prayers and
receive offerings to increase the auspiciousness of the day and encourage
correct behaviour.
Mom Rachawongse Thanatsri Sawatdiwat, a renaissance man and a very
knowledgeable person on the tourist industry, then conducted a discussion
lecture at police headquarters on the needs of tourists.
The day closed with a discussion on discipline and the need to constantly
improve one’s knowledge of the duties involved with being a tourist
policeman in a changing world.
