Marking the start of HM the King’s 85th year, Khao
Bumpenbun Temple ordained 85 new monks in Bang Saray.
Rear Adm. Supong Sirisonthi, deputy commander of the
Sattahip Naval Base, presided over the Dec. 1 ceremony at the temple’s
Mahamongkol sala, along with Phra Thep Chonthanmunee, dean of monks in
Chonburi, and Abbott Phaowana Prachanath.
Phaowana said His Majesty’s Dec. 5th birthday was
auspicious as it marks the completion of seven cycles of the Chinese
calendar. Ordaining 85 monks for the occasion was a way to make merit
for the monkhood, he said.
