Tourist Police Commander Jongsak
Yaemlamool extols the beauty of native aspects of Pattaya.
Pol. Maj. Jongsak Yaemlamool, Commander of the Tourist
Police, is now patrolling Pattaya in person to make sure that all tourists are
treated fairly and not taken advantage of. His main concern is the safety of all
tourists visiting Pattaya, as he and the entire Tourist Police force, along with
all the citizens of Pattaya, wish tourists to remember their stay in Pattaya as
safe, relaxing and enjoyable.
He said that if one mentions Chonburi province, no-one would deny that it is a
well known place. But Commander Jongsak says that aside from Pattaya’s rather
tarnished reputation there are many things which reflect the gentle and
beautiful side of Thai culture. He would like all visitors to become acquainted
with the historical importance of Pattaya.
Commander Jongsak said that for pure fun, tourists should attend the annual
buffalo races in Chonburi town. For those interested in Buddhism there is the
beautiful and tranquil Dhamma Nimit Temple with its awesome and holy Buddha
Image on the hill in Chonburi. (Everyone should visit this temple. It’s the
closest to a real Buddhist retreat in the central region. The place is serenely
beautiful and has a truly sacrosanct feeling.)
A treat that some have never tried, Khao-Laam, should not be missed by any
visitor. Khao Laam is sweet rice, beans and luscious bananas, which are steamed
and then roasted in a cured length of bamboo.
Commander Jongsak encourages all visitors to explore these more native aspects
of Pattaya and Chonburi.
