Somphan Kumphanyaem (seated, left)
will be going through the court process one more time after being caught,
again, selling illicit drugs.
Boonlua Chatree
Police arrested a motorbike taxi driver allegedly
peddling methamphetamines to pay off legal expenses for an earlier drug
conviction.
Somphan Kumphanyaem, 37, was taken into custody the day
after his birthday, on July 29, after allegedly selling two ya ba tablets to
undercover officers outside PP Massage in central Pattaya.
Somphan took officers to his Soi Chalermprakiat apartment
where they reportedly found an additional 72 speed pills, 1.83 g. of ya ice
and paraphernalia. They also found gold necklaces and rings, 6,200 baht in
cash, bank books showing transactions running into hundreds of thousands of
baht and papers for upcoming court appearances.
Somphan reportedly confessed that he’d been selling drugs while driving a
motorbike taxi to pay back a lawyer who helped him after an earlier arrest
for drug dealing.
