A woman uninterested in giving a drunken Pattaya
traffic cop a hug complained to police the Thai man had harassed her.
Thitima Mitsamrong, 22, told police she was standing
outside the Marine Disco early July 28 when Kampan Wiangnon, 34, got
over a motorbike and tried to flirt and hug her. She said she spurned
his advances, as he was clearly drunk, but the traffic department ticket
writer kept harassing her, saying she must do what he said because he
was a Pattaya Police Station officer.
Real Pattaya police rounded up the pencil pusher, who
reportedly confessed to harassing Thitima. The woman declined to press
charges, but urged police to scold Kampan not to bother other women the
same way. Police said they would file a report with his city supervisor,
who might issue a reprimand for allegedly trying to use his city
position for personal gain.
