Yet another unsolved murder
On the 27th of September, police were called to the
scene of a murder on the Sattahip England Road, where they found the
body of a Thai woman who had been dead for approximately 3 days.
The body had wounds on the head from some sort of blunt instrument.
After the murder, the corpse had been hidden in a copse of trees. The
police found a large piece of wood, which could possibly have been the
murder weapon.
Upon examination of the victim’s pockets, police found that the victim’s
name was Mrs. Rungthip Sooknoi, 27, Assistant Village Head of Chark Maak
Village, Banglamung.
A very successful real-estate agent and a merchant, she had gone out
with merchandise to sell on the morning of September 25th. She did not
return and her body was later discovered by residents.
Police said the murder was well planned as the perpetrator must have had
knowledge of Mrs. Rungthip’s market trips and waited to ambush her in
the early morning. Police also confirmed that there was more than one
person involved in the killing, as they discovered two sets of
footprints at this usually deserted area.
Upon questioning residents of the area, police found that Mrs. Rungthip
had an estranged husband, a Navy officer stationed at Sattahip.
Neighbours told police that the victim had recently acquired another
husband. Police are still deliberating whether the murder could be
attributed to jealousy, problems with her estate business, or both.
The investigation continues.
