Renee Larsen, Danish drug dealer, was arrested 3
years ago and deported to the Danish authority, where he received a 7
year jail sentence. He spent a short time in Danish prison before
escaping to Pattaya (reported in Pattaya Mail, April 12, 1996). After a
one and a half year stay in Pattaya, Rene was again arrested by Thai
Police acting on a request from the Danish Police. Rene had been living
in Thailand with a fake British passport as Anthony Allen.

photo taken of Red Rene in the Pattaya jail just before his escape.
Rene was arrested by the Pattaya Tourist Police on April 7, 1996, on the
charge of having fake document (passport). Rene was sent to the
C.S.D.(Crime Suppression Division) in Bangkok the same day.
He was sentenced by the Chonburi court, and stayed in prison in Chonburi
for approx. 3 months. He was then sent to the Pattaya Police Station
where he stayed while awaiting to be deported back to Denmark.
On the 2nd of Oct. 96, Rene was sent to Pattaya Memorial Hospital
because he was sick. But he showed up in Copenhagen, Denmark on morning
of the 4th of Oct. 96. He could not enter Denmark from the airport
because he had no passport with him, so he made a call to Willy R.
Eliasen, the Detective Chief Superintendent of Glostrup Police, pleading
with him to come and fetch him, as he wished to turn himself in.
Pattaya Mail made a phone call to Eliasen in Denmark to inquire about
Rene’s escape. Eliasen informed our reporter that Rene had told him, “I
was sick and was sent to the hospital, which I could escape from without
any problem”. Regarding taking the flight back home without a passport,
he said, “I have a friend at the airport, which was the way to get
through immigration and all the security. Then I bought myself a
boarding card to the plane, and here I am”.
Pol.Lt.Col.Piya Suraprasert, Chief of Pattaya Police, said that he could
not understand how Rene was able to escape from the hospital. He said
that Rene’s passport was kept with the officer in charge of the case,
Pol.Capt. Prasan Fukfon. He also said that it was incomprehensible to
him how Rene was able to fly back home, that probably he had another
fake passport.
Pattaya Mail also made an inquiry to the Thai Interpol Office in
Bangkok, and was connected with the inspector in charge of deporting
Rene, Pol. Maj. Aaphaphan Cholsuek. She explained that she did not know
anything about the escape of Rene. She said that she had actually
contacted Pol. Capt. Prasan and told him that the time had come to
deport Rene, and had received a message from him, dated 2nd Oct. 96,
saying that Rene could not travel because he was in the hospital. She
was also informed that Rene’s extradition was still waiting for
permission from the Chonburi prosecutor, as the case of Rene, here, was
not yet done with.
These questions remain: How did Rene manage to leave the hospital when
he was supposed to be under constant guard by the police? How did Rene
manage to travel from Pattaya to Bangkok if he was so sick? How was Rene
able to walk through security in Don Muang Airport, where even the
passengers’ bags can’t board a jet without going through the x-ray
machine? How could Rene board the plane without proper documents?
What has happened with the control system in Thailand? There have been
rumors going on in town, saying that it cost Rene over 1 million Baht
for his escape. Who received the money? This was obviously not a one man
job. Who else was involved?
Who should take responsibility? Pattaya Police officer, Capt. Prasan?
Immigration at Don Muang? Don Muang’s security staff? And finally, what
about the plane that allowed Rene to travel, which Rene said was the SAS
(Scandinavian Airlines System). Is it not embarrassing for the Thai
Police Force to allow this incident to take place?
This is a good example of what Thailand needs to improve on in order to
develop this country into a better place for its citizens. From Denmark
to Thailand or from Thailand to Denmark, its the same story, by the same
gangster. These questions are to you sir, Pol. Gen. Pote Bunyajinda.
