The Royal Thai Navy helped make Loy Krathong festive
for 200 Bangkok residents who’ve been taking shelter in Sattahip after
fleeing floods that swept through their homes.
The Air and Coastal Defense Command set up pools for
the refugees residing at two Aviation Brigade hangers to release their
floating flowers, candles and incense and wish for better times to come.
The Nov. 10 festival also featured traditional
dancing and entertainment from the Durian Band.
For the evacuees, which have faced the loss of homes
and jobs in the country’s worst flooding in six decades, it was a happy
evening that promised that good, normal times will come again.
