Police are not ruling out foul play as the cause of
death of an elderly Norwegian man in his central Pattaya apartment.
The nude body of Leif Louis Olsen, 70, was found Nov.
6 at the Nirandorn Grand Ville Condominium on Soi Arunotai. Although
secured with two keyed locks, the room was in disarray, with a fan and
sliding-door mirror broken. Police said they found other “abnormal”
evidence, leading them to consider homicide as the cause of death.
However, friend Christian Moldennas, 62, said Olsen
has long been ill with an ailment that causes severe abdominal pain.
Police concede the Norwegian could have suffered a convulsion, which
would explain his damaged room and the position of his body, which was
strongly clutching a chair leg.
Olsen’s body was transferred to the Forensic
Institute where a final determination will be made.
