With the hoisting of the organization’s flag, Mayor Itthiphol
Kunplome launched the Association of Southeast Asian Nations Education Center, a
project to bring Thai schools up to international standards.
The mayor, along with Pattaya School No. 4 Principal Somchai
Khemkhaeng, raised the ASEAN banner over the Nongyai Temple School Dec. 23 as
teachers and guests assembled for the presentations on Thailand’s preparations
to join the ASEAN Community in 2015.
Education, Itthiphol said, plays a key role in the
development of ASEAN countries and the education center is aimed at giving
teachers, staff and students access to the organization’s standards and other
information. It also serves as a forum for teachers, parents and others to
exchange ideas on how to develop the full potential of children.
Thailand is preparing a conceptual framework for a national
education plan built on ASEAN standards to develop quality education, increase
education opportunities and promote educational services.
Pattaya School No. 4 used the occasion to highlight its own
efforts, showcasing the school’s talent and programs on how students
productivity use their free time, take responsibility for their work and focus
on punctuality.
