Officials from Penang, Malaysia visited Pattaya to study how the
city is managing its beaches.
Penang City Councilman Ong Agteong led the delegation to city hall Oct. 3,
where he was greeted by municipal police chief, Maj. Gen. Jeerawat
Sukhonthazup.
Jeerawat reviewed beach-management methods, including water transportation,
beach chair operations and marine safety.
The general reviewed ongoing plans to boost safety by regulating areas for
boats, jet skis, divers and swimmers.
He said Chonburi Permanent Secretary Chawalit Saeng-Uthai and 10 other teams
also began visiting beaches on Sept. 25 to reorganize the beach-chair
vendors.
