The YWCA Bangkok-Pattaya Center taught students and social-welfare
groups how to grow and manage mushroom farms at a seminar at Pattaya School No.
7.
YWCA Chairwoman Praichit Jetpai and Pattaya City Councilman Banjong
Banthoonprayuk opened the Sept. 27 workshop at the school where the YWCA set up
a farm in June with the help of Chandrakasem Rajabhat University Group and the
Rotary Club of the Eastern Seaboard.
The 24 sq.-meter garden lets the school harvest mushrooms to use in a variety of
meals from soup to vegetable stir-fry. Growing its own food also helps the
school lower its expenses.
In June, the YWCA donated 10,000 baht for the training session, which featured
speaker Bunlert Thaitatkul, president of Samut Prakan Wisdom Centre.
Training covered the correct way to create mushroom cubes and how to recycle old
cubes.
