A Samut Prakan taxi driver rescued a British tourist’s Pattaya
holiday when he returned a fat wallet left in his cab.
Vichai Taweekan, 53, turned in to police a bag belonging to James
Richardson that had more than 100,000 baht in Thai baht and British
pounds, plus an Apple iPad Mini, mobile phone and documents.
All smiles, Richardson thanked and rewarded the honest cabbie.
Vichai said that he had picked up Richardson from Suvarnabhumi Airport
and had let him out near Soi Buakaow. Shortly later, after stopping to
clean up the back seat, he found the bag.
He said he never considered keeping the money and electronics, as he
feels it’s important to remain honest and preserve Thailand’s tourist
reputation.
