40 Million Baht of contraband seized
CID investigations of a gang of smugglers operating in
the area of Chonburi led police and navy to inspect a suspicious Thai ship,
named Salinee, to the south of Koh Larn on December 7.
Upon searching the ship, the team found 440,000 packets of untaxed
cigarettes and 840 bottles of foreign liquor. Police confiscated the
contraband as evidence, valued at about 40,000,000 baht.
Five foreigners were arrested, including 1 Indonesian, and 4 Burmese. 5 Thai
nationals were also arrested. All were charged with smuggling.
