The pugilist ex-con
requires restraint at Pattaya police station.
On the first of December at 11:00 PM, Pattaya police
received a report that Gerard Van Dernar (sic), 48, a Dutch national, was
having an altercation with a Thai man, Lomhuan Kuakratoke, 28. Upon arriving
at Soi Pattayaland 2, officers found the two engaged in fisticuffs. Police
arrested the two men and took them to the Pattaya police station.
At the police station Lomhuan told the officer on duty that he had been in
prison for 12 years for attempted murder. He reported that he had just been
released and was staying in a hotel near where the altercation took place.
When he was leaving the hotel, he saw the Dutchman having an argument with
his friends. Being a bit drunk, there was no communication, so Lomhuan
punched Van Dernar in the face.
The police gave Lomhuan a good lecture and charged him with drunk and
disorderly conduct, and then incarcerated him for the night before releasing
him. The police changed the charges to inflicting bodily harm before
releasing him in the morning.
