Maliwan Saentas points
out the man who tricked her out of her gold.
At 1:30 am December 5th, Ms. Maliwan Saentas, 25, a
worker in a large bar on Soi 8, took Mr. Paitoon Wongngarm, 39, who
alleged that he lived in Bangkok, to the officer on duty at Pattaya
police station. She accused him of tricking her into going to a short
time hotel with him, performing sexual favours, and defrauding her of a
7.67 gram gold ornament which he then heartlessly pawned for 1500 baht
to use as drinking money.
She told police that Paitoon had told her that he was a Filipino, and
that she had believed him when he spoke no Thai to her. When she asked
for her body fee of 1000 baht, he told her he had no money at the time
but would give it to her when his money arrived from abroad. Feeling
sorry for him, she made the mistake of giving him her gold ornament.
Later, when discussing the matter with friends, Paitoon appeared on the
scene and Maliwan and her friends nabbed him. Upon questioning him, they
found out he was Thai and not a foreigner, so they bustled him off to
the law.
Paitoon, who had obviously thought he had figured out a way not only to
get sex for free but to get a little money out of it as well, denied
tricking the poor innocent girl. He said he only wanted to have sex with
her, had no money, and she was stupid. He said he would repay the money
from the gold ornament later.
Police detained Paitoon and charged him with defrauding another of
valuables.
